New England Laborers’ Health & Safety Fund Toolbox Talks
A toolbox talk is a short safety talk or meeting about a specific subject relevant to the work being performed at a jobsite. Although these talks are brief in nature, they are to the point regarding issues that workers are confronted with on a regular basis. They do not replace formal training.
A toolbox talk is a hands-on way to remind Laborers about both the importance of being safe and the role workers play in providing for their own safety on the job. Through toolbox talks, the New England Laborers’ Health and Safety Fund informs Laborers about health and safety requirements for the equipment, materials, and procedures that they use every day or for particular tasks.
